Aashish
Shrestha.

Senior backend engineer building production SaaS and agentic AI systems.

I've been building with Python and Django since 2019, mostly on the parts of a product people only notice when they break: billing, logins, multi-tenant data and event pipelines. Lately that includes AI agents, which I trust about as much as I trust a cron job nobody's checked on.

What I do

The work I usually get pulled into

If it moves money, lets people in, or has to stay in sync with five other systems, it's probably mine.

  • 01

    Multi-tenant SaaS

One codebase, strictly isolated tenants: 20+ companies on RealHRSoft, 200+ restaurant websites on one CMS.

  • 02

    Billing & subscriptions

Recurring billing, invoicing, credits and dunning that charge the right amount on the right day.

  • 03

    Auth you can trust

OAuth2 and SSO services. I traced six concurrency bugs that took login errors from 15% to under 0.5%.

  • 04

    Integrations & event pipelines

Queues that sync 100K+ events a day to HubSpot, Mixpanel, Intercom and Planhat without dropping data.

  • 05

    Migrations that land

A PHP monolith to Python microservices in six months: 3× deploy frequency, 35% lower infra cost.

  • 06

    Agentic AI systems

A Gemini assistant with 68 permission-checked tools and an 86-case eval harness, built with scoped Claude Code subagents and hooks.

Experience

Where I've worked

I started as an intern in 2019. Since then: analytics, HR and restaurant software, and a team of my own along the way.

Full background

  3. Nov 2019 – Mar 2020

Software Engineer Intern · Leapfrog Technology

Intensive training in web development, software architecture and agile practices on real-world projects.

Writing

Notes from work

Things I learned the hard way, written down so I don't have to learn them twice.

All writing

Blocking force-pushes with a Claude Code hook

A short Claude Code PreToolUse hook that stops an AI agent from force-pushing over shared git history, and why such rules belong in hooks, not prompts.

Tell me what you're building.

I'm taking on contract work. Billing, logins, integrations, a migration you can't afford to get wrong, or an AI feature you're nervous about shipping: that's the work I enjoy most.

A few lines is plenty

You don't need a brief or a deck. It helps if you mention:

  • what you're building, and who it's for
  • what's broken, slow or keeping you up at night
  • roughly when you need a hand
