Hi, I'm Aashish. I'm a backend engineer in Kathmandu, and I've been writing Python for a living since 2019.

I tend to end up with the jobs other people put off.

Billing that has to charge the right amount on the right day. Logins that can't lock anyone out. Event pipelines that can't drop a single event. Nobody notices this stuff when it works, and everyone notices when it doesn't, which is exactly why I like it.

I started with Python and Django and picked up the rest as I needed it, from Vue.js on the frontend to AWS on the ops side. Somewhere along the way I went from intern to leading a team of six to seven developers, and mentored three engineers from intern to mid-level.

These days a lot of my time goes into AI agents, and mostly into the unexciting parts that make them safe to ship: permissions, guardrails and evals. I'm also a certified Scrum Master, and I take on contract work.

    Senior Backend Engineer

    Led the move from a PHP monolith to Python microservices in six months, tripling deployment frequency and cutting infrastructure costs by 35%. Designed the subscription and billing system, and fixed concurrency bugs in the auth service that were failing 15% of logins.
